Training at IMF Headquarters (HQ) in Washington, D.C. is offered in four languages-Arabic, English, French, and Spanish. Much of the HQ curriculum is devoted to relatively long courses that involve many IMF staff and would be impractical to offer at the Regional Training Centers. These include the Institute's course on Financial Programming and Policies, the courses on Macroeconomic Diagnostics and Macroeconomic Management and Fiscal Policy, and several courses on macroeconomic statistics.

The Institute for Capacity Development does not accept hardcopy applications.

Selection Process: Courses are either by application or invitation (Online application for Arabic courses must be submitted in English). For courses by invitation, candidates are nominated by government agencies upon the request of the responsible IMF department.

Self-Financed Policy: Candidates from international agencies, advanced regional countries, and local staff in IMF Resident Representatives' offices who apply to courses at our regional training centers and programs, if accepted, will be given the status of self-financed. Attending as self-financed provides the same access to course content and activities, but all associated costs (accommodation, travel, and per diem) need to be covered by the sponsoring institution.
